The science we build on and put to work.

The MPAE archetype model, the physics engine, and the patent portfolio — authored in the research arm, then put to work in the products and services you can buy.

What we’ve published

Archetype model

MPAE

A measured, parameterized decomposition of how offshore boats actually vary — not a marketing taxonomy but a structural model. Eleven archetypes that emerge from the data, validated across 9,591 scored ORC boats (11,207 analyzed, July 2026).

Physics engine

Physics R14

The active physics stack behind SailEdge™ and FleetEdge™ — force-based, per-sail modeling with blanketing simulation on a Delft-series (DSYHS) hull library, anchored to the ORC VPP baseline so every delta stays bounded and explainable. Certificate-preserving: the ORC baseline is the anchor, never the casualty.

Authorship

Research is authored and operated by SailrScience, LLC — the research arm of SailrScience and the custodian of the IP. SailrScience Technologies, LLC ships the work commercially through SailEdge, FleetEdge, the partner program, and the services tier.

The split is structural, not stylistic. Research output isn’t a marketing artifact. Its truthfulness posture is independent of the commercial surfaces it powers.

Institutional surface

For ORC officials and class associations

The canonical institutional surface for SailrScience research as it applies to ORC and IRC official audiences sits on FleetEdge. It explains the methodology, the data provenance, and the rating-system implications.

FleetEdge for ORC leaders

Institutional questions about the model, the data provenance, or the rating-system implications come to the research arm directly through the institutional contact lane.

Patent disclosure

SailrScience holds two US provisional patent filings. The first, USPTO docket 0325-0001PR, was filed 2026-03-05 and covers the SailEdge claim scope. The second, USPTO docket 0325-0002PR (application 64/093,531), was filed 2026-06-18 and covers the FleetEdge claim scope — weather-conditioned fleet analytics and performance decomposition. This disclosure summarizes the filings without releasing claim language verbatim. Provisional filings are not granted patents; they preserve filing-date precedence and inform the subsequent prosecution. IP custody sits with SailrScience, LLC.

Media surface

For journalists and race media

SailrScience research reaches race coverage through FleetEdge’s racing insights — archetype-conditioned, weather-conditioned reads on real results, published from the race archive. For methodology questions, commentary, or on-record quotes, the press lane responds directly.
